1. Calea zacatechichi
“The Dream Herb” or “Leaf of God”
Calea zacatechichi is a Mexican plant used by the indigenous (like Chontal Indians) in order to obtain divinatory messages and visions during their sleep.
This plant has strong dream-inducing power, so it must be taken seriously and consciously.

It is one of the most famous and powerful oneirogenic — “dream creation” — herb.
The dreams become more clear, colorful, and vivid immediately or after a few days of use, the ability to recall dreams is drastically improved and the Dream Herb is known to promote good sleep.
The Dream Herb is consumed with the intention of increasing the chances of a lucid dream state.
The dried leaves are usually smoked (better vaporized) or used in infusion as a tea.
The taste is very bitter if drunk and often is consumed in association with honey and other sweet ingredients to a more pleasant taste.
In Europe, this plant is legal, except for Poland.
2. Silene capensis
The synonymous of Silene undulata, also known as “African dream-root” is native of the west coast of South Africa.
This plant is considered a sacred plant from the Xhosa tribe, used in their tradition in association with other roots, herb, and creepers to make the”ubulawu preparation”

Together with c. zacatechichi — Dream Herb — , is one of the most famous oneirogenic plants, capable of intensifying dreams and improving dream recall.
This plant is very useful for reaching the lucid dream state
The part commonly used are the roots, dried and powdered, mixed vigorously with cold water in order to obtain a foam.
Traditionally other roots and plants were added to the preparation and then, drunk following a precise ritual. One of the purposes of the ritual was to establish a connection (through the dreams) with ancestral spirits and to receive knowledge.
3. Passiflora

Passiflora is a botanical genre that produces plants that have been used for humans for millennia.
At normal doses, the passiflora can be a powerful ally as a sleep aid and anti-anxiety.
This plant has been used by medicine men — shamans — of multiple cultures to induce a deep sleep rich in visionary dreams.
In higher doses, the Passiflora can even bring psychedelic effects, so be respectful when you approach this natural ally.
4. Nymphea caerulae

Nymphea cerulea , the Blue Lotus or Blue Water Lily, can be found in several regions of Africa, especially the areas close to the Nilo river.
Traditionally, the flower was eaten raw or into a decoction as a tranquilizer, promoting good and well-rest sleep.
The Blue Lotus is not a dream-inducing plant, its use in the lucid dream experience is linked with its sedative property, which promotes a deep sleep
Other benefits include anti-oxidant activity and aphrodisiac effect. These effects are probably due to the presence of several alkaloids.
In Europe, the Nymphea caerulae is legal except in Poland, Russia, Latvia ( since April 2009).
5. Gingko Biloba
Gingko Biloba is an ancient plant (150 million years) with plenty of medicinal uses and powerful effects on the brain and showing drastic improvement in concentration.

The leaves of the Ginko are traditionally ingested as a tea but not to induce sleep or vivid dreams, but rather to improve the memory making the dreams easier to recall.
This plant is also a favorite of students who want to improve their brain performance during the times of exams!
Gingko is also known as a powerful antioxidant and in Asian culture, the presence of Ginko Biloba represents good luck.
